Jennie Love Buckner, 92, of Hereford died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 1988, in Golden Plains Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Services were held at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Doug Manning, retired Baptist minister, officiating. He was assisted by Dr. Ron Cook, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial was in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Gililland-Watson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Buckner was born in Gainesville and moved to Hereford in 1912. She married J.J. "Scotty" Buckner on July 4, 1915, in Hereford. He died in 1964. She was named Pioneer of the Year in 1983 and was a homemaker and a member of the Hereford Senior Citizens and the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Joe E. of Austin; four daughters, Jessie Ann Davis of Hereford, Nan Richeson of Gainesville, Barbara Ford of New Orleans, La., and Irene Salser of Lubbock; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hereford Senior Citizens Center, the Texas Boys Ranch or a favorite charity.
