The second grinding collision of the week claimed the life of Glenn Burrus, 48. He was killed almost instantly Tuesday night when the pickup he was driving crashed inton the rear of a semi-trailer truck.

Leonard Leon Trippitt of Plainview, driver of the truck was uninjured.

The accident occurred about 8:35 p.m. on Harrison Highway, a mile and a half west of Hereford city limits. Both vehicles were traveling west according to Department of Safety patrolmen.

Force of the impact crushed the front of the pickup, telescoping the cab area. Mr. Burrus was pronounced dead on arrival at Deaf Smith County Hospital 20 minutes later.

Funeral services for Mr. Burrus will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Alexander Benton officiating. Burial in West Park Cemetery will be directed by Gililland Funeral Home.

A resident of Deaf Smith County since 1946, he was a native of Oklahoma, born Dec. 16, 1919 in Cotton County. He came to Texas in 1920 and moved to this county from Canyon. He was a veteran of Military service in World War II.

His marriage to Miss Rosalie Kribbs was on June 6, 1942, in Pampa. She survives him with two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Slaughter and Mrs. Elizabeth McIntire, both of Hereford.

Other survivors are five brothers, Herschel Burrus of Hereford and H.W., B.A., R.A. and Tony Burrus, all of Canyon; and four sisters, Mrs. Edd Boren and Mrs. Ray Metcalfe of Canyon, Mrs. Verla Simpson of Tulia and Mrs. J.B. Hagar of Panhandle.
