HEREFORD — Grady "Buddy" Cates Jr., 69, formerly of Hereford, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Amarillo.
Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home in Hereford with Carry King, pastor of Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home of Hereford.
Mr. Cates was born April 28, 1943, in Chickasha, Okla., to Grady Jefferson Sr. and Hattie Katherine Boswell Cates. He loved to help his brothers on the farm.
Survivors include a son, Roudy Cates of Tyler; two daughters, Rhonda Weber Craig of Mineola and Raylene Carion of Tyler; a brother, Sammy Cates of Mangum, Okla.; five sisters, Mildred Shirey Gene of Dallas, Mary Ann Fivecoat of Boise, Idaho., Minnie Elliott, Geneva Estep and Shirley Buck, all of Hereford; seven grand children; and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
