HEREFORD - Jo Ann Charest, 77, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Amarillo.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in West Park Cemetery followed by celebration of life services in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tanner Wilson officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Charest was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Lincoln, Kan., the daughter of James and Esther Grimes. Jo Ann retired from the Deaf Smith County district attorney's office after 20 years of service.

Mrs. Charest had many hobbies, some of which were doing needlepoint, playing bridge, spoiling the grandkids and going to Hereford sporting events to watch the kids.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donny Grimes.

Survivors include three sons, Danny Charest and wife Saowalak of Singapore, Doug Charest and wife Debra of Rogers, Ark., and Dave Charest and wife Tami of San Antonio; a daughter, Joni Kitchens and husband Keith of Shallowater; four grandsons, Keenan Kitchens, Kiel Kitchens, Nathan Charest and Nichols Charest; five granddaughters, Jocelyn Kruger, Cristi Wood, Taylor Calome, Erin Charest and Kalli Kitchens; and a great-granddaughter, Kambry Kitchens.

The family suggests memorials to Odyssey Foundation Sky Camp, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
