HEREFORD, Oct. 27 - Funeral rites for George W. Cloyd, 86, of 1824 Lawson in Amarillo, were conducted today in Rose Hill Chapel of the Gililland Funeral Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Gilbert Davis, pastor of the First Christian Church here.
Burial was in West Park Cemetery here, under the direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Cloyd died Saturday in an Amarillo hospital. He had been ill for about seven years. He and his wife had made their home with a daughter Mrs. E.F. Green, at the Amarillo address since July.
Mr. Cloyd was born Nov. 19, 1872, at Pilot Point in Denton County. He married Louella Sullivan at Pilot Point on Oct. 31, 1891.
The couple moved to Hereford in 1898, and they moved to Childress about 10 years ago.
He was a retired stockman and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and daughter, include two sons, E.R., of Canadian and John S. of Fort Worth; two other daughters, Mrs. R.D. Cocanougher of Hereford and Mrs. Lon Morton of Childress; a brother, Henry of Hereford; a sister, Mrs. C.T. Wofford of Tulia; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

CLOYD, GEORGE
Mr. and Mrs. George Cloyd came to Hereford (Tex) from Pilot Point, Tex., in 1898, the year the town was started. They watched the growth of the city for 60 years. He was a stockman, and they were members of the Methodist Church. They had moved to Childress about 1948, and at the time of his death in October of 1958 they were making their home with a daughter, Mrs. E. F. Green in Amarillo.
George W. Cloyd was born Nov. 19, 1872, at Pilot Point and was married to Louella Sullivan there on Oct. 31, 1891.

Mrs. Cloyd died Tuesday at Amarillo Osteopathic Hospital following a long illness.
A native of Missouri, she lived in Hereford from 1898 until she moved to Amarillo in 1942.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lon Morton of Childress and Mrs. E.F. Green of the home in Amarillo; two sons, John of Fort Worth and E.R. of Canadian, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
