Boyd A. Collins, 59, of Hereford died Tuesday Feb. 6, 1990 in Sand Lake Hospital at Orlando, Fla.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Derrel Evins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home.

Mr. Collins was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Atchison, Kan. He married Ellen Walker Dec. 29, 1951. He moved to Hereford in 1960 from El Dorado, Kan. He was a line superintendent for Deaf Smith Electric Cooperative. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a Scout Master, having earned a silver beaver. He was also a Mason and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Allen Collins of Houston, Danny Lee Collins of Garland, and Dennis Wayne Collins of St. Louis. Mo.; three daughters, Linda Joe Ramackers of Nazareth, Rita Ann Hodges of Dacaville, Calif., and Georgia Mae Riley of Hereford; four brothers, Ed Collins and George Collins, both of West Plains Mo., Harold Collins and Neal Collins both of Arkansas; two sisters, Maggie Surriet of West Plains, Mo., and Virginia Radbury of Calififornia [sic]; and 10 grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to the Boy Scouts of America, the American Heart Association of to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

HEREFORD — Ellen Lee Collins, 81, of Hereford died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Watkins, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford

Ellen Lee Collins was born June 7, 1931, in West Plains Mo., to David William and Georgia Gertrude Davis Walker. Mrs. Collins attended schools in Howell County, Mo., and graduated from West Plains High School. Ellen met and fell in love with Boyd Collins and they married on Dec. 29, 1951, in Arkansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Collins moved to Hereford in 1960 from El Dorado, Kan. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Hereford High School. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and in many community organizations such as Cub Scout leader and trainer and was one of the first women to receive the Silver Beaver Award in 1975, which is the highest volunteer award, was a Campfire leader and received Distinguished Leader Award for 1978 to 1979, served on Hereford Day Care board from 1981 to 1984, helped organize The Clothes Closet, supervised the Annual Gift Wrap Stand at Sugarland Mall for Wesley Youth Group, Campfire and Boys Scouts, and organized the Annual Art Show, put on by Wesley United Methodist Church for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyd Collins; a brother, David Walker; a sister, Rita Walker; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Walker and Edith Walker; a brother-in-law, Harold Hendrickson; a granddaughter, Jocelynn Riley; and a grandson-in-law, Kendrick Powell.

Survivors include three sons, David Collins of Hereford, Danny Collins and wife Judy of Rowlett and Dennis Collins and wife Tami of St. Louis; three daughters, Linda Ramaekers and husband Henry of Nazareth, Rita Bonin and husband Eric of Cleburne and Georgia Riley and husband Tim of Hereford; a sister, Ann Hendrickson of Bolivar, Mo.; a brother, Frank Walker of Van Wert, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, Mary Ellen Simpson, Jill Pohlmer, Kristi Powell, Heidi Ramaekers, Amy Collins, Leah Barber, Joshua Collins, Cooper Collins, Andrew Stith, Lindsay Stith, Joshua Bonin, Paige Bonin, Lindsey Bonin, Kaitlyn Bonin, April Thomas, Amanda Riley and Lexy Riley; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Wesley United Methodist Church, 410 Irving St., Hereford, TX 79045; or Kings Manor Methodist Home, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.

The family will receive guests from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
