Longtime area farmer buried here Saturday
Funeral services for Herbert Vincent Crawford, 76, a long-time area farmer who died Thursday evening in Deaf Smith County Hospital following a lengthy illness, were conducted Saturday afternoon in First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. W.A. Appling, pastor, officiated with burial in West Park Cemetery by Gililland Funeral Home.
Mr. Crawford was born May 14, 1895 in Texas and married Rubye Key May 22, 1934 in Vernon. They come to Deaf Smith County in 1948 from Cotton Center.
He was a longtime farmer residing 1 1/2 miles east of the city. A World War I veteran, Mr. Crawford was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Key Crawford of Hereford; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy McDonald of Santa Fe, N.M.; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Ball of Canyon, Mrs. Blanche Stith and Mrs. Alice Poff, both of Tulia, and Mrs. R.W. Paschal of Wichita Falls.
A memorial has been established with the cancer fund.
