VEGA - Clydene Davis, 70, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Vega with the Rev. Geary Martin and the Rev. Larry Parvin officiating. Private family burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Davis was born and raised in Hereford. She resided in Dalhart, where she and Gene Batenhorst raised their four children. She enjoyed working for the First Baptist Church and Jim Felty Chevrolet for many years.
She later married Preston Davis and made their home in Vega, where she continued her lifelong enjoyment of working for First Baptist Church in Vega.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gene Batenhorst; a sister, Deborah Thomas; and a grandchild, Mara Batenhorst.
Survivors include her husband, Preston Davis; a son, Randy Batenhorst and wife Jamie of Dalhart; three daughters, Cheryl Jones and husband Chris of Colleyville, Melana Aycock and husband Craig of Weatherford, Okla., and Barbie Miller and husband Clay of Valentine; six sisters, Lois Ann Loch of Elk City, Okla., Pearl Messick of Campbell, Linda Tarpley of Commerce, Cynthia Thomas of Missouri City, Betty Childs of Amarillo, and Dorothy Harvey and husband Howard of Lubbock; a brother, Jerry C. Thomas of Collinsville, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or a cancer society of choice.
