Services for Wendell Saunders, 89, of Slaton will be at 2 p.m. today in Englunds Chapel with Jack Gordon officiating.
Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.
He died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002.
He was born Oct. 13, 1913, in Chillicothe and moved to the Southland/Hackberry area in 1916 and to Slaton in 1973. He graduated from Southland High School in 1933 and married Bette Irene Meers on Jan. 28, 1940, in Portales, N.M.
He had been a cotton ginner and farmer until retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a past director of Hackberry Co-op Gin.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Wendell of Lubbock; a daughter, Sharron Lee DeVoter of Lamar, Colo.; two sisters, Maurine Smith of Plains and Joyce Biggs of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
