Husband of Vera Schilling Schwertner
Rosary service for Rudy Schwertner, 82, of Wilson will be 7 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2006 in Englunds Chapel with Rev. Tim Schwertner officiating. Resurrection Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Schwertner and Rev. Nicholas Rendon as the celebrants. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Rudy died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 in Lubbock. He was born April 18, 1924 in Williamson County. He served three years in the US Army during WWII.
On April 19, 1949 in Slaton, Rudy married Vera Schilling. He was a cotton farmer for 57 years in Lynn County. Rudy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #2751.
Rudy was preceded in death by: a son, Kurt Schwertner on February 28, 1987; a daughter, June Herbst on April 13, 1998; four brothers, Alvin, August, Lawrence and Hubert; and two sisters, Hermina Kahlig and Ella Knapek.
