HEREFORD - Final rites were to be held at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church for Adam Canadrian Flowers, 74, a longtime Hereford resident.

Officiating was to be the Rev. W.A. Appling, pastor, and burial was to be in West Park Cemetery under direction of Gililland-Watson Funeral Home.

Mr. Flowers, who died early Wednesday morning at his home, came to Hereford in 1920 from Kress. He was a farm owner.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Ratliff [sic]; a son, Jack R. of 4310 Cline in Amarillo; a daughter, Mrs. Neldean Coulson of Lubbock; two brothers, George of Odessa and W.H. of Clayton, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Syozlman of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Henry McIntyre of Odessa; and five grandchildren.

HEREFORD - Mary Rachel Flowers, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Chapel with the Rev. Rick Burkhalter, pastor of St. Mathew's United Methodist Church of Lubbock, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson
Funeral Home.

Mr. [sic] Flowers was born in Tazewell, Va., moved to Hereford in 1906 and graduated from Hereford High School in 1922. She was a farmer, homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church. In 1980, she moved to Lubbock.

She married Adam Flowers in 1928 at Hereford. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972 and by a son, Jack Flowers, in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Nell Dean Coulson of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society.
