William C. Ferrill III died on Sept 6, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on May 7, 1936 in El Paso, Texas. During the past eighteen years, he lived part-time on a family Century Ranch in Comanche County. He also lived in a Dallas suburb of Carrollton, Texas.
Bill briefly attended school in Sidney and then moved with the family to Pyote Airforce Base. Bill graduated from Monahans high school and was awarded a track scholarship to Southern Methodist University. After graduation, he joined the Navy and became a pilot. Following his service in Viet Nam, Bill flew for American Airlines He was based in Dallas and was able to come to the family ranch frequently as time would allow. He retired in 1997 and became a check pilot for Semi-flight Corporation in Dallas.
Bill had many interests. He was an accomplished violinist playing in concerts throughout the state. He collected antique violins and bows. He was politically active and was asked to speak for various organizations throughout the state. He loved ranching and being able to make a positive difference on the family ranch following retirement. He relished assisting Colt Caffey on occasion in coaching track at Sidney high school. He attended many of the sporting events there. He was a frequent contributor to “The Comanche Chief.”
Bill relished sitting around talking about experiences and sharing funny stories with friends and family. He loved his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Antoinette (Toni) Stoffel on July 5, 2020. He is survived by his son, Ryan, and grandson, Kaden, of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Ferrill Rezinas of Washington and his niece, Michele Moore from Florence, Alabama. His cousin, June Ferrill, lives in Sante Fe New Mexico.
Memorial services will be held at the Ferrill cemetery on November 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
