Last Rites Held Here Monday for Mrs. Fulkerson

Mrs. Martha Ellen Funk Fulkerson, who died Saturday, was buried in West Park cemetery here Monday afternoon, following funeral services at the Methodist church conducted at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. J.M. Fuller.

Mrs. Fulkerson was born at New Hampton, Harrison county, Missouri, November 19, 1868. She was married to Benjamin Franklin Fulkerson at Trenton, Missouri, April 30, 1901, to which union were born five children, two now living. James Emmett died in 1920, Mary Frances in 1924, and infant Maxine died in 1915.

The family moved to Texas in the spring of 1906 and settled at the present home 20 miles north of Hereford.

Mrs. Fulkerson was an untiring social worker for the welfare of her community and was a leader in church and community activities. She taught school in the rural district of Deaf Smith county for several years, and conducted a kindergarten in Hereford about 15 years ago.

Deceased is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. Earl Springer and Benjamin Ray Fulkerson, both of Hereford.

Relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Mary Ivie, a sister; Mrs. Grace Ernest, Mrs. Orville Ivie, nieces; Ray Smith and Orville Ivie, nephews, all of Luray, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Campbell, of Amarillo, life-long friends, were also here for the services.
