HEREFORD — Claude A. Garth, 88, of Hereford died Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Watkins, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E. Sixth St., in Hereford.

Claude was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Crosbyton to Grover and Lucy Tirey Garth. He married his best friend and soul mate, Billie Jane Hokit Garth, on Feb. 13, 1948, in Muleshoe. They moved to Hereford in 1989.

Claude worked for AzTx Cattle Company as a mill foreman for 23 years before retiring. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Hereford Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Senior Citizens. Claude loved his Lord. He loved his bride of 64 years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Claude was a veteran of the Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Royce, Alton and Wayne; and four sisters, Onnie Schmitz, Alene Stallcup, Jane Moraw and Margie Dobbins.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Romero and husband Will of Hereford; a son, Matt Garth and wife Cindy of Claude; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Wesley United Methodist Church, 410 Irving St., Hereford, TX 79045.
