Dean Hacker, 75, lifetime Hereford resident and businessman died Saturday. February 7, 2015 in Amarillo.

A Graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, February 9, 2015 at West Park Cemetery.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, following the graveside service at First Presbyterian Church in Hereford. Mr. Don McDonald, Pastor will officiate. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th Street.

Dean was born April 28, 1939 in Hereford to W. J. (John) and Ola (Culpepper) Hacker. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Knox on September 7, 1958 in Hereford. Dean was a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church for many years. He loved his Lord and Savior. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dean owned and operated Hacker Upholstery for 22 years, Brownlow Brothers Construction for 10 years and retired with 10 years from Deaf Smith County as Maintenance Supervisor, mainly working at the courthouse. Dean loved to travel, was a member of the High Plains Family Motor Coach Association and the Waggs Wheels–A–Go–Go–RV Club. He loved to refurbish and restore furniture, and build furniture. Dean just loved to work with wood! He liked gardening and serving his Lord through the First Presbyterian Church “Angel Food” ministry program.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Joe and Morris Hacker; 1 half-brother, Alvin Hacker; and 1 half-sister, Mildred Benson.

Survivors left to cherish the memories of Dean, are Carolyn his wife of the home; 1 daughter, Kerry Whitson and husband Larry; 1 granddaughter, Haley Whitson, both of Plano, TX; many nieces and nephews and a host of many friends.

The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to the First Presbyterian Church, 610 Lee Avenue, Hereford, TX 79045.
