Funeral services were to be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Mrs. W.G. Harris who died in the hospital here last night. She had been ill eight days. Rev. H.M. Redford, pastor officiated at services held from the First Christian Church. Burial was in West Park Cemetery.
Ruth Annetta Laughlin was born October 17, 1886, in Iowa. The family moved to Missouri when she was three years old, and later filed on a claim in New Mexico in 1907. W.G. Harris lived on a neighboring claim and they were married in 1909. In 1910 Mr. and Mrs. Harris moved to Summerfield where the family has since resided.
Survivors are the husband; three children, Mrs. Dorothy Brown of Farwell, L.G. Harris of Lubbock, and Mrs. Wilma Carmichael of Summerfield; two brothers, W.L. Laughlin of Topeka, Kan., and Alden Laughlin of Sommers, Mon.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Roe of Menton, Kan., and Mrs. Lillian Wright of Lodi, Calif.; two grandchildren, Billy Bob and Kenneth Wayne Carmichael.
Mrs. C.D. Sorrows of Clovis, N.M., a sister of Mr. Harris, has been in constant attendance during Mrs. Harris' illness.
Neighbors and friends jammed the First Christian Church to pay tribute to Mrs. Harris. Many had been touched by the kindliness and neighborliness of her manner or had been encouraged and helped by her steadfast ideals and her Christian character.
