*Obituary Melvin Henderson
HEREFORD - Melvin M. Henderson, 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. James Peach, pastor of Frio Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.

Melvin was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Dundee, Okla., to William and Lola Burke Henderson. He married the love of his life, Dimple June Sanders Henderson on Jan. 18, 1947, in Levelland. They moved to Hereford in 1954 from Levelland.

Melvin was a longtime operator of Henderson Gas Station in Hereford. He was a member of Avenue Baptist Church.

Melvin was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to compose songs and sing. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Melvin was a World War II, 305th Army Air Force veteran, serving his country proudly from 1942 to 1946. Military honors will be provided by the Hereford High School Marine Corps Jr ROTC cadets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; a son, Sid Henderson; two brothers, Travis Henderson and Doyle Henderson; and two sisters, Inetha Sones and Wilma Weatherby.

Survivors include three sons; Keith Henderson and wife Carol of Amarillo, Ronny Henderson of Hereford, and Bill Henderson and wife Trish of Vega; a brother, Don Henderson of Levelland; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to a charity of choice.
