HEREFORD - Charles Hodges Sr., 72, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in San Antonio.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Homan officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford.

Mr. Hodges was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Hereford to Cecil and Velma Hodges. He married Norma Sue Sowell on June 14, 1959.

Mr. Hodges retired from GMAC after 38 years of service. His passion was golf, which he played for more than 50 years and was a "scratch' golfer in college. He recorded two holes-in-one after his retirement in 1997.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue; two daughters, Kim Vickery of Whitney and Paige Shaw of Snyder; a son, Chuck Hodges Jr. and wife Jean Anne of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Bettye Owen of Abilene; and six grandchildren, Jessica Vickery Adkins and husband Russell, Tyler Vickery, Kelsey Shaw, Kailea Shaw, Lucy Hodges and Eli Hodges.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, Amarillo District Memorial Chair, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo, TX 79109-4210.

Graveside services for Sue Hodges, 76, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at West Park Cemetery with Reverend Skip Hodges, pastor of Friona Methodist Church, officiating. Services have been entrusted to Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodges passed away peacefully after long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s in Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

Norma Sue Sowell was born October 28, 1939 in Hereford, Texas to Charlie and Verna Woods Sowell. She married Keith Hodges on June 14, 1959 in Hereford at First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Kim Vickery of Whitney, Texas and Paige Shaw of Snyder, Texas; 1 son Chuck Hodges and wife Jean Anne of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Jeareen Frye of San Antonio, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Adkins and husband Russell, Tyler Vickery and wife Jenn, Kelsey Watts and husband Cole, Kailea Shaw, Lucy Hodges, and Eli Hodges; 2 great-grandchildren Kylee Adkins and Kaden Adkins.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 50 years, one sister Wynogene Sharp, and son in law, Todd Shaw.

Family suggest memorials in Mrs. Hodge’s name be made to The National Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
