*CEMETERY SIGN

Barton Cemetery
Bosque County,
Texas

"The Barton family arrived in this area as pioneers in the 1860s following the Civil War. They came from South Carolina along with other families by wagon train. Some of the other families included the Jaynes and Dodgions who settled nearby. The oldest in this cemetery is Peter Looney Barton (1808-1893) and his wife Nancy (1813-1884).
Descendants of these early settlers to Bosque County and the Hog Creek area have erected this sign in appreciation for the sacrifice and determination under extreme conditions and trials to build a new life."

The cemetery is located in a pasture on private property off FM 217. The landowner maintains the cemetery.
