HEREFORD - Edna Johnson, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Watkins, pastor, officiating. A private family burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Edna was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Vernon to Wilson and Grace Ann Mitchell. Always living in the Texas Panhandle, Edna met and married Emmitt Wagnon Johnson on Sept. 28, 1942, in Clovis N.M., prior to World War II.

After living in Clovis for a short time, the family lived at Westway Community before moving to Hereford in 1972. Edna was a longtime employee of Hereford Medical Clinic and West Park Drug before retiring.

She had been an active member of Wesley Methodist Church and Senior Citizens, where she taught line dancing and enjoyed volunteering and working on senior citizen projects.

While her family was her main joy, she was dearly loved throughout the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Johnson, on Feb, 16, 1976; a son, Jerry Keith Johnson, on Jan. 17, 2000; and a daughter, Donna Allen Johnson, on June 23, 2006.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Johnson of Amarillo; a daughter, Anna Solomon of Hereford; five grandchildren, Michelle Solomon Broussard of Dallas, Chris Solomon of Lubbock, Matt Allen of Carlsbad, N.M., Chad Johnson of Flower Mound and Ryan Johnson of Greeley, Colo.; three great-granddaughters, Chloe Johnson, Hannah Solomon and Sidney Johnson; and a great-grandson, Landon Warren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hereford Senior Citizen Center, 426 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.
