Joe T. Lyons, 79, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in West Park Cemetery in Hereford with the Rev. Joan Gaines, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hereford, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.
Mr. Lyons was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Oklahoma City. He moved to Deaf Smith County at the age of 3. He farmed near Adrian for many years and moved to Amarillo in 1979.
Mr. Lyons served in the Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
He married Barbara Phillips on May 20, 1972, in Hereford. Mr. Lyons attended First Presbyterian Church in Hereford and Anna Street Church of Christ in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Virginia, "Ginger" Reed of Lubbock; two sons, James Steven Lyons of Amarillo and Frank Thomas Lyons of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 6605 W. Interstate 40, Suite A-6, Amarillo, TX 79106.
