Funeral services and burial for Stella Morton, 83, Rapid City, will be held in Hereford, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Behrens Mortuary.

She died Sunday at the Rapid City Rehabilitation Hospital.

She was born Jan. 7, 1899, at Snyder, Texas, the daughter of George and Rozellia [sic] Guthrie. She grew up and attended schools in Hereford. She married William Morton March 3, 1923, at Muleshoe, Texas. The couple ranched near Hereford until 1953 when they moved to the Spearfish-Belle Fourche area. They moved to Black Hawk in 1980.

She is survived by her husband, William of Black Hawk; five daughters, Billye Joe Freeman of Cheyenne, Wyo., Bettye Sue Burenette of Alberline [sic], Texas, Edye Peterson and Lee Willier of Black Hawk, and Linda King of Wheatland, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ocie Altman of Luvet [sic], Texas; one brother, G.W. Guthrie of Denison, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
