Funeral services for Elza R. Smith, 77, of Slaton will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 in Westview Baptist Church with Rev. Kirk Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Elza was born Oct. 25, 1928 in Leonard, TX and moved to the Slaton area shortly after his birth.
Elza attended Slaton Schools. On April 28, 1950, Elza married Betty Weir in Clovis, NM.
He served in the US Army. He had been a grocery man and a dispatcher for the DPS. In 1965, he began Smith Plumbing and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Westview Baptist Church and the Slaton Masonic Lodge.
