HEREFORD - Ruben Ortega, 77, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008.
Prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday in La Iglesia de San Jose with the Rev. David Contreras, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ortega was born July 24, 1930, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Luis and Manuela Aranda Ortega. He married Maria Cruz on Aug. 17, 1952, in Cardenas, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucy Lopez and Emma Castillo, both of Hereford; two sons, Joe Ortega of Las Penitas and Luis Ortega of Palestine; three sisters, Maria Padilla of Amarillo and Eduviges Cervantes and Gloria Ortega, both of Chihuahua; two brothers, Trinidad Ortega of Cardenas and Benito Ortega of Puerto Penascos, Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Samaritan Hospice, 426 Main St., Suite E, Hereford, TX 79045.
