HEREFORD — Dorothy Virginia Banner Phillips, 89, of Hereford died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012.
Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home, 601 N. Main St., in Hereford with John Stagner officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Parkside Funeral Home of Hereford.
Mrs. Phillips was born May 13, 1923, in Amarillo to Frank and Esther Banner. She graduated from Hereford High School in 1942 and from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Amarillo in 1945. She married Wayne Phillips on Aug. 18, 1946, and they made their home in Hereford, where she worked many years as a registered nurse at the Hereford Clinic. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the First Christian Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Banner; her husband, Wayne Phillips; a son, William "Bill" Phillips; and an aunt and uncle who raised her after her mother's death, Pearl and Russell Hunter.
Survivors include a son, Russell Phillips and Myra of Edmond, Okla.; a daughter, Elizabeth Landers and Steve of Hereford; two grandsons, JD Phillips and Connie of Gilbert, Ariz., and Aaron Landers and Shelby of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Christie Jordan and Paul of Houston, Mary Anne Phillips of Allen, and Kara Miller and Bradley and Kayla Landers, all of Hereford; two great-grandsons, Jace Landers of Hereford and Colton Landers of Amarillo; and a great-granddaughter, Jaeleigh Jordan of Houston.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
