Rufus Carroll Anthon, Jr., 90, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Waco. Visitation for the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Cole Funeral Home with Drew Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery.
Rufus was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Rufus and Sallie Anthon, and grew up in Waco. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. He married Joycie Lanell Walker on Dec. 4, 1936, and lived in Waco for over 60 years. He retired from Anthon Potato Company where he was self-employed for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sisters, Ora Johnson and Florence Thompson, both of Waco.
Survivors include his son, Milton Carroll Anthon and wife, Paulette, of Alvarado; daughter, Billie Joyce Davis, of Waco; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
