Wife of Rex Thomas
Funeral services for Bertha Thomas, 45, of Acuff will be 10:30a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Slaton with the Rev. Jack Thompson and the Rev. Ray Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother passed from this life, surrounded by her family, Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005.
Bertha was born Sept. 10, 1960 in Medina, Ohio. She attended public school at Hindman Elementary, graduated from Knott Central High School in Hindman, Ky. and attended Moorehead University. She moved to Lubbock in 1980 from Brinkley, Ky. On Oct. 10, 1981, Bertha married Rex Thomas in Brinkley. She had been an Acuff resident since 1981. Bertha was a strong and active supporter of Roosevelt schools, FFA and Roosevelt Eagles Basketball. She was a homemaker and member of the Buffalo Springs Community Church.
Survivors include her husband, Rex; a son, Ky; a daughter, Cassie Wenzel and husband Jason; two grandchildren, Riley and Reagan Wenzel; a daughter, Heather Grizzell and husband Joseph, all of Acuff; her father, Herbert H. Stamper, Sr.; brothers, Herbie Stamper and wife Geraldine of Brinkley, Ky., Joe Stamper and wife Joanne of Winchester, Ky., David Stamper and wife Sheila of Brinkley, Ky., and Chuck Stamper and wife Stephanie of Prestonburg, Ky.; and sisters, Teresa Bates and husband Bo of Lewisville, and Tammy Stamper of Lubbock.
