J.A. "Andy" Lammons, 97, formerly of Seminole went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2022, in Vancleave, Mississippi.

He was born May 25, 1925, in Yazoo County, Mississippi to Charley Dalton "Doyle" Lammons and Carrie Lee Kinard Lammons.

Andy enlisted on November 6, 1942, in the US Army at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Andy served on board the United States' Ship Rocky Mount, Flagship of Commander Amphibious group six, U.S. Pacific fleet during bombardment and assault landing against Japanese held Leyte and Philippine Islands. For his heroic efforts, Andy was awarded 9 battle stars before being discharged October 9, 1945, as C.P. Callan in California and ranked as a Technician 4th Grade.

Andy married his first love Ellouise Lammons on November 15, 1946. In 1953, Andy moved to West Texas where he worked for Enron Oil Company for over 20 years as an oilfield pumper. Andy began serving on the Seminole Volunteer Fire Department in 1963 and continued to be a vital member of the department for 51 years. Andy was appointed Fire Marshal on November 2, 1984 and retired from the fire department in 2014. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. After the passing of Ellouise in 1993, Andy married Lela Faye, in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 15, 1995. Andy was affectionately called Daddy, DanDan, and Uncle Bud by those who loved him. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Andy was greeted in Heaven by his first wife Ellouise Lammons, his parents Charley & Carrie Lammons, his brothers Robert Gene Lammons and George Lammons, and his daughter Nancy Graves. Those that mourn his loss are his wife Lela Faye Lammons of Vancleave, Mississippi, 2 sons; James Doyle "JD" and Cathy Lammons of Alpine, Texas and Robert Keith and Debra Lammons of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter Pamela and Otis Williams of Blackwell, Texas; son-in-law Terry Graves. 8 grandchildren: Jamie Nichols, Danny Lammons, Randy Lammons, Lesly Lammons, James Lammons, Shaine Strickland, Clint Graves, Jeff Graves, 21 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Henry, Peggy, Jody, Jena, and Tina for caring for Andy in his final years. Your love, care, and support cannot and will not be forgotten. Graveside Services for Andy will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery with Gilbert Ramirez officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home. Family and friend will be welcomed toa visitation on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to Hospice of Light. Checks can be sent to 1121 Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
