Funeral services for Vernon "Bill" Rowe, 88, a long time Hereford resident, will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Hereford with Reverend Matthew Baird, pastor of Halton Road Baptist Church in Halton City, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Rowe passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at his residence.
Vernon W. Rowe was born March 10, 1926 to Fred W. and Lavena Siminson Rowe in Johnson City, Kansas. Vernon was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He married Donna Rowe, on May 2, 1944 in Liberal, Kansas. He then moved to Hereford in December of 1979. Mr. Rowe and his wife owned and operated B&D Auto Sales and Upholstery for many years. He loved to attend auto auctions, and had many friends, he never met a stranger.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Deena Sue Rowe; 1 son, Billy Mack Rowe; 2 great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of the home; 1 daughter, Sherri Forbes and husband Bob of Colorado Springs, Co.; and 1 sister, Gwen Major and husband Richard of Bethany, OK.; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to American Heart Association at 6605 W. Interstate 40, Amarillo, Texas 79106 or www.heart.org.
