Jeff D. Wilson of Slaton, Texas died on Thursday, March 25th at the age of 73. He was born on April 23, 1936 in Parnell, Texas, one of nine children. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters and is survived by one sister, Jody Hughes of Amarillo.
Jeff was a banker for most of his working life including associations with banks in Lubbock, Wellington, Amarillo and Slaton, Texas, where he was president of Citizens Bank for 22 years. Throughout his long banking career he built lifelong friendships with co-workers, employees and customers. His practical, enthusiastic approach to life and work coupled with his rock-solid integrity made it a pleasure to work for or with Jeff. He was a mentor to many future leaders and helped many to start and grow their businesses.
Jeff's zest for life extended to his involvement in a number of civic organizations. He had a lifelong love of music which included his participation in the West Winds Brass Band and the Lubbock Concert Band where he played the trombone. Jeff was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where he was active in many areas. He believed in living the message of the gospels in his daily walk.
