*Obituary
Angels walk among us each and every day. We see these individuals as they perform simple to complex activities such as mentoring young men, helping to ensure those in need have help and support, or perhaps when they are simply calling to check on their neighbors. They are individuals of integrity and passion, with a deep commitment to humanity, their families, their communities, and their churches. They are people like Charles H. Evans, Sr. On Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 78 years of age, the retired Purchasing Director at Occidental Petroleum and former Mayor of Seagraves, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Charles was born on September 5, 1943 in Marlon, Texas to the late Mr. Anderson Evans Sr. and late Mrs. Ella Vernice Evans. Upon graduating high school, he married the love of his life, Wilma Ruth, on May 21, 1963, in Lovington, New Mexico. Charles built a successful career in the oil industry, spanning over thirty years until his retirement from Oxy. His most recent work centered around his passion for community service, which included his tireless efforts with the church and serving as Mayor of Seagraves, Texas. Charles served as a mentor and father figure to so many across Midland-Odessa, Wichita Falls, and Seagraves. He leaves a deep-rooted legacy and irrefutable impact on everything and everyone with whom he came in contact. A man known for his integrity, tenacious spirit, ""no-nonsense"" approach to business, and immeasurable devotion for his family and community, Charles found joy in playing golf, tinkering with his gadgets, and spending time with Wilma watching sports and traveling. Charles now has his Heavenly wings and will be watching over his family and legacy with infinite front-row seats the Ryder Cup and Master's Golf Tournaments.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Anderson Evans, Sr. and Ella Vernice Evans; brothers and sisters: Anderson Evans, Jr., William Davis Evans, and Maurice Evans. Memories will be cherished by a loving and devoted wife, Wilma R. Evans, and three sons: Gregory (Charisse) Evans of Fayetteville, GA, Charles (Traci) Evans of Fayetteville, GA, and Clifford (Tonya) Evans of Dallas, TX; two grandsons: Jaxon Evans and Kai Evans; three sisters: Ida Vernice (Kenneth) Cole, Mamie Louise Wilson, and Ella Carolyn (Leroy) Haynes; one brother: Roderick Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
