HEREFORD — Aurora Vanegas, 72, of Hereford died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
Prayer vigil will be said at 6 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with Monsignor Joe Bixenman as celebrant. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors of Hereford.
Mrs. Vanegas was born April 3, 1939, in Mission to Tomas and Irene Cantu Garcia. She married Pedro Vanegas on April 28, 1977, in Hereford.
Survivors include her husband, Pedro Vanegas of Hereford; two daughters, Florestella Rodriguez of Hereford and Maria Guadalupe Bowen of Hazelton, Idaho; two sons, Jose Luis Vanegas of Cedar Park and Gny. Sgt. Pedro Vanegas of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Juana Carrizales and Paula Garcia, both of Hereford; a brother, Tomas Ruben Garcia of Salida, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Assn., P.O. Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79159.
