Veldon "Buck" Burgess, Sr., 87, of Andrews, TX passed away at his home, June 26, 2013.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. John Snider will officiate.

Buck was born November 8, 1925 in Athens, Arkansas to George and Ida Mae Burgess. Buck married Helen Hinds November 20, 1943; she preceded him in death in 2011.
He married Penny Sutphen June 19, 2004 in Andrews.

He served in the US Army during World War II. He moved to Andrews in 1968. He owned several businesses over the years including, HIB Motor Company, HIB boot store, a truck stop, Lloyd Brother's gas stations as well as other gas stations and a café. He owned a freight company as well. Buck loved to work on Cars and tinker on just about anything with an engine. He loved to travel, do electrical and carpentry work too.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Burgess of Andrews, TX; children, Nikki Dry of Amarillo, TX, Sherri Jean Nicol of Houston, TX, Veldon B. Burgess, Jr. of Colorado; step-children, Carol Lynette Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX, Tim Sutphen of Andrews, TX and Kimberly Castillo of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, five step grandchildren and one great grandchild.
