Funeral services for John A. Duffy, Sr., 80, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Harvey Enriquez, Pastor, of Andrews and Rev. Ron Ragland of Hobbs, New Mexico officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

He passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born on July 5, 1926 in Miles, Texas to Pat Duffy and Addie Rose Gotcher Duffy. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He married Audra Lavern Duffy on February 3, 1948 in Andrews and they lived in Andrews from 1947-1948. He worked as a drilling superintendent for Superior Oil Company for 40 years, which took them all over the country. They moved back to Andrews from the Philippines in 1976. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Andrews Country Club. He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife: Lavern Duffy of Andrews; 1 son: John Duffy, Jr. and wife Mary Jane of Odessa; 1 brother: Darrell Duffy of Cameron, Louisiana; 1 sister: Faye Southern of Andrews; 1 granddaughter: Carrie O'Neil and husband Cory of Flowermound, Oregon; and 2 great grandchildren: Jordynn and Logan O'Neil of Flowermound, Oregon.
