Graveside service for J.C. Freeman, 92, of Lamesa, will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Dwayne Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

J.C. passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, in Lubbock. He was born September 22, 1929 in Lamesa, Texas to Herman and Anna Mae (Smith) Freeman. He was a beloved dad and grandfather known to his grandchildren as "Pappy". J.C. was a longtime member of the North 14th Street Church of Christ and a longtime farmer in Dawson County.

J.C. loved watching his son, Steve Freeman play football for the Buffalo Bills and then watching Steve while he officiated in the NFL. He also loved coming to the ranch in Marathon, Texas to help with the ranch's yearly round-ups. This is where his daughter and son-in-law, who was the ranch foreman lived. His wife Wynell once said that he would rather be on a horse than with her.

J.C. is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Polsky; daughter, Sherry Smith and husband Gaylon Smith of Lamesa, and son, Steve Freeman and wife Bo of Oxford, MS; he had six grandchildren,.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Mae Freeman; his wife Wynell Freeman; sister, Shirley Arthur and a grandson, Luke Freeman.

*Obituary Wynell Robinette Freeman
Wynell Freeman, age 81, of Lamesa, TX, died in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 27, 2012. That is exactly the way she would have wanted it because her family was her life.

Wynell was born on April 14, 1931, in Dickens County to Bert and Merle Robinette. Wynell loved basketball and track and excelled in both. On May 4, 1947, the end of her junior year in High School, she married her husband, J.C. Freeman. She was described as a lovely and gracious person. She was strong in her faith and active in her church. She loved to laugh, tell stories and spend time with her family.

Wynell will be buried in the Lamesa Memorial Park cemetery. Her service will take place on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lamesa Church of Christ with Brother Mark Hackett officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

She is survived by her husband, J.C.; her daughter, Sherry and husband Gaylon Smith; son, Steve Freeman and wife Bo; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
