Dorothy Greer Foster left Midland, Texas for her heavenly home on Friday, November 5, 2010.
Dorothy was born in Hillsboro, Texas on January 3, 1927 to O.R. and Clara Greer. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and in 1949 graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS Degree in Home Economics Education. Dorothy and J.A. Foster were married on September 13, 1948 in Andrews, Texas. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church. Serving on most of the church's various committees over the years, and was an Adult Sunday School Teacher for 50 years. She also represented her church as an Executive Board member of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for four years, and served on the Board of Trustees for Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas for 6 years. Dorothy was an original member of the group of ladies who started Community Bible Study in Midland in 1982, serving with great joy in leadership positions until May 2010. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as exemplified by her life. Other memberships included the Twentieth Century Study Club and Midland County Republican Women. Dorothy treasured spending time with her family and their activities. She also took pleasure in traveling, reading and playing bridge.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband on August 27, 1980, by brother Don Greer and by her parents. Survivors include sisters, Mary Clack of Midland and Nancy Greer of Dimmitt; nieces, Diane Stegall and husband Darwin; Donna Najar and husband Sabas, all of San Angelo, TX. Also great niece Brittany Stegall of Lubbock; great nephews, Reed Stegall and Joshua Najar, both of San Angelo; and Justin Stegall and wife Stephanie of Houston. sister-in-law, Zora Greer of San Angelo. Burial services will be held in Andrews, Texas, followed by a memorial service at First Baptist Church in Midland at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 8, 2010. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621 Midland, TX 79702 or to First Baptist Church, 2104 W. Louisiana Midland, TX 79701.
