Roy A. Collins, 88, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Coahoma Cemetery with Tyson Taylor, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Lubbock.

He was born May 20, 1923 in Coahoma, Texas to Ida Mae and Jess Collins. He grew up in Coahoma and graduated from Coahoma and Texas Tech. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps in Europe. He was an aircraft radio operator during the D-Day Invasion. He married Rosemary Bristow on December 31, 1954 in San Angelo, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2007. He was a manager of the Coors Distributorship in Big Spring for over 30 years.

He is survived by one sister Dorothy Andrews of Plainview; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition of his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cherie Dorton and one brother Jess Collins.
