Obituary:
Adolph Lewis Schwope Died
On Sunday, November 10th at Shattuck, Oklahoma

Adolph Lewis Schwope was born on November 25, 1868 near Wathena, Kansas and departed this life in the Shattuck Hospital on November 10, 1940, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 16 days.

Mr. Schwope grew to manhood at Wathena, Kansas. After spending six years at Lawrence, Kansas he moved to the farm north of Follett, Texas in 1916 where he has lived since.

On January 9, 1895, he was married to Bertha Gutzman at Wathena, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Raymond of Shattuck, Oklahoma, Herbert of Kansas City, Mo., Edna French and Milton, both of Follett.

In addition to his wife, the four children, he leaves 2 brothers, Oscar Schwope of Atchison, Kansas, William Schwope of Kansas City, Mo., 4 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Dubach of Hutchison, Kansas, Mrs. Bertha Furhman of Atchison, Kansas, Mrs. Augusta Stanton of Union Star, Mo., and Ida Schwope of Union Star, Mo. Also there are 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

(Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul R Schwope (1870–1901))

Mr. Schwope was converted while a young man and united with the Methodist church at Wathena, Kansas. He has been an active member of the Follett Methodist church since living here. Mr. Schwope found his greatest joy in serving the Lord and regularly attended church so long as he could possibly do so.

He had a wonderful bass voice, he liked to sing - loved to attend church, was an official member of the church, and could say with the apostle Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, and there is henceforth laid up for me a crown of righteousness."

A loving husband, a devoted father, a patient sufferer, a faithful christian has "entered the joy of his Lord" into eternal rest and peace.

Services at Follett Methodist church Tuesday 2 p.m. by Geo. B. Baker of Buffalo, Okla., assisted by local Methodist Pastor, S. J. Manning. Burial at Fairmont Cemetery, Mason Funeral Director.
