Elodia Gutierrez, 71, of Coahoma died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

Vigil services will be at 7:00 PM Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Coahoma Cemetery.

She was born November 13, 1943, in Big Spring to Margarita and Willie Garcia.

Elodia married Alfredo Gutierrez on December 9, 1961, in Big Spring.

She was a lifetime resident of Howard County.

She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She loved sewing, knitting and bingo.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alfredo Gutierrez of Coahoma; 6 children: Fred Gutierrez, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Coahoma, Emma Gutierrez and her husband Pete of Stanton, Martha Dobek and her husband Mark of Big Spring, Margie Kowatch and her husband John of Big Spring, Adolf Gutierrez and his wife Lori of Brownwood, and Lodie Gutierrez of Midland; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren: two sisters: Maggie Templeton of West Virginia and Emily Montejano of Iraan; and one brother: Tony Garcia of West Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 2 brothers: Willie Garcia and Adolf Garcia; 1 sister: Elizabeth Jimenez.

Pallbearers will be: Mitch Gutierrez, Erik Gutierrez, Martin Gutierrez, Mark Dobek, Manuel Armendarez, and A. J. Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Dobek and Julian Armendariz.
