M. W. Bates, 89, of Big Spring, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at his residence.
Private services with Military Honors were held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Myers & Smith Chapel.
He was born November 16, 1921 in Winnfield, Louisiana to Frances and Richard Mullins.
He married Virginia "Gin" Patterson Geiger on August 18, 1958 in Snyder, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2007.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He moved to Big Spring in 1971.
He was a supervisor for Parker Drilling and worked many years in Alaska.
He was a Baptist.
He is survived by three sisters: Flo Sage, M. E. Mullins-Hilliker and Marie Turner all of El Dorado, Arkansas; one sister-in-law: Eileen "Pat" Walsh of Sun City California and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
