Joan Kinder, 85, of Coahoma, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Coahoma Cemetery with Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating.

She was born on August 17, 1924, in Weston-super-Mare, England. Joan married Leonard F. Kinder on April 22, 1944 at Emmanuel Church in Weston-super-Mare, England. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1988. She travelled on the Queen Mary and met Leonard in New York in l946. They made their home in Coahoma, where Joan lived until moving to Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home.

She is survived by two sisters, Shirley and husband, Peter and daughter, Beverley and Pauline and husband, John and sons, Robert and Steven and families all of England and numerous other nieces and nephews in England. Joan is also survived by a nephew, Rodger Clark and wife, Rey of California and a sister-in-law, Pat Perry and husband, Steve of Lubbock, as well as nephews, nieces and cousins here in the United States, along with many friends in Coahoma. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gwen and Margaret and one brother, Llewellyn.
