Guadalupe D. Martinez, 72, of Big Spring, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center following a long illness.

Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2003 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Rev. James Plagens officiating. Burial will follow in Coahoma cemetery.

Mr. Martinez was born on June 27, 1931 in Mertzon, Texas. He married Maria Molina on Feb. 25, 1982 in Big Spring. He had been a resident of Big Spring for 41 years. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a cursillista. Mr. Martinez had worked for Clyde McMahon Concrete Company for 19 years and retired in the late 1980's.

He is survived by his wife: Maria Martinez of Big Spring; 1 Daughter: Adelaida (Lyla) Gonzales of San Angelo; three sisters: Juanita Torres of San Angelo, Bessie Flores of Mertzon, and Ema Fuentes of San Diego, California; two Granddaughters: Celisity Gonzales and Bridgette Gonzales both of San Angelo.

Preceded in death by his parents: Augustine and Maria Martinez; four brothers: Hilario, Victor, Fidencio and Miguel Martinez and two sons.

Arrangements are under the Direction of Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
