Romy Luther Mays, 89, of Abilene, formerly of Coahoma, left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 10, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Russell Mullins, minister of Coahoma Church of Christ, officiating and Don Allen, assisting. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
Romy was a true servant of God, born on August 21, 1914, to L. F. and Annie Mae Sullivan Mays in Jack County, Texas.
Romy married Nora Lee Morren on February 15, 1938, in Howard County. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1992.
Romy had worked for Cosden Oil and Chemical for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Coahoma Church of Christ.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Roma Lee (Mays) and Tommy Aberegg of Abilene, Jimmy and Dorinda Mays of Kerrville, and Dennis and Becky Mays of Selma, N.C.; one sister, Minnye Cranfill of Big Spring; one brother-in-law, J.B. Morren of Duncan, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one step great great grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Mays, Matt Mays, Kevin Mays, Russell Pharis, Richard Rodgers and Brent Polley. Clay Reid, a life long friend will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
