Bertha Bernice Shires May 01, 1915 - May 06, 2015

Bertha 'Bert' Shires 100 of Big Spring died Wednesday May 06, 2015 at Big Spring Center For Skilled Care. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Ken Thomas officiating.Burial will be at Coahoma Cemetery.

Bert was born May 01, 1915 at Kingston, Oklahoma to Sarah and George Bolton. Bert married George Evret Shires March 26, 1938 in Lamesa where they resided for many years. They moved to Big Spring in 1970. Mr Shires died in 1972. Mrs. Shires was a homemaker and a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Bert is survived by five daughters: Nancy Loden of Malakoff, Texas, Georgia Rickman of Gilmer, Texas, Faye Roberts of Garden City, Texas, Wanda Roberts and Bonnie Beeler of the home; 32 Grandchildren; 59 Great-Grandchildren; numerous Great-Great grandchildren and one Great-Great-Great Grandson.In addition to her parents and husband George she was preceded in death by one daughter: Virginia Roberts; three sons-in-law: Bobby Lee Rickman, Sonny Logan and Raymond Roberts; and two Granddaughters: Carol Ann Foster and Beverly Jean Cason; three sisters: Hazel Pierce, Dorothy Harris and Syble Stringer; three brothers: Herman Bolton, Carl Bolton and Eulis Bolton.Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
