Francisco V. Torres, 79, of Big Spring died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Vigil Services will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial at Coahoma Cemetery.

He was born March 9, 1927, at New Braunfels, Texas to Petra and Anselmo Torres. He had lived in Howard and Dawson Counties for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Germany during World War II. He was a retired farm worker and a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife: Panfila R. Hernandez of Waco; 5 sons: Leo Torres of O'Donnell, Frank Torres of Ozona, Felipe Torres of Laurel, Mississippi, and Fermin Torres and Felix Torres, both of Waco; 1 daughter: Nelda Munoz of Brownfield; 2 sisters: Amelia Montalvo of Hempstead and Estolia Barrera of Lawton, OK; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Carmen Villareal and Mary Alice Torres; 2 granddaughters: Lisa Morales and Angie Munoz; 2 brothers: John V. Torres and Maurico Torres and 1 sister: Benita Padron.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
