Daniel H. Birdwell, 94, of Grand Prairie, formerly of Big Spring, died on Sunday, December 14, 2003, in an Arlington hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Dave Ring, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born on December 9, 1909, in Dawson County, Texas and married Hermina Ramona Christen on February 27, 1942 in Jourdanton, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1988.

Daniel worked as a service man for the Southern Union Gas Company in El Paso for 27 years.

He was a longtime resident of Big Spring and moved to Grand Prairie in 1995.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Daniel served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II and received the American Theater Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the DAV.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
