Shirley M. Brashears, 74, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 4th, 2012, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with her son, Don Moore, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the funeral home.

She was born December 18, 1937 in Lamesa to Fred and Isabell Wilson and moved to the dairy farm with her family when she was around five years old. She grew up there and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1956.

Shirley married Don Brashears August 21, 1970 in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death July 14, 2010. She and Don raised their combined family of seven kids. She had worked at Furrs Cafeteria and then worked at Malone-Hogan Clinic as insurance clerk. After retiring, she and Don enjoyed camping and going to swap meets. She especially loved working in her yards and also loved and had lots of cats, many of them strays.

Survivors include four sons, Johnny Moore and wife, Debbie of Big Spring, Greg Moore and wife, Kara of Midland, Don Moore and wife, Robin of Lubbock and Mike Brashears and Patricia of Louisville, Colorado; three daughters, Donna McCloskey and husband, Mike of Austin, Cathy Broadrick and husband, Ronnie of Midland and Susan Hirt and husband, Wayne of Garden City; three brothers, Red Wilson and wife, Lakie of Odessa, Bill Wilson and wife, Joyce of Hallsville and Pete Wilson and wife, Sharon of Santee, California; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren and two more expected.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Spring Humane Society, P.O. Box 823, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0823
