Gracie Faye Brown, 85, of Ackerly, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at her residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Billy Reed, officiating. The family will receive friends just prior to services starting at 11:30 AM at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring.
Gracie was born February 9, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas and married Billy O. Brown, August 22, 1951 in Ackerly, Texas. He preceded her in death May 29, 2014.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Abilene Christian College and taught mostly second grade in Ackerly for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Ackerly Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Terry Brown of Ackerly; two grandchildren, D’Nae Reyna and husband, Cody of Lubbock, and Billy B. Brown of Austin: five great grandchildren, Colten, Ashlyn, Lauren, Madison, Braedyn; and two great-great grandchildren, Paisley and Zayne.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Cordie (Dyer) Oaks; and a baby brother, Terry Oaks.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Lubbock Children’s Home, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408 or Cal Farley’s, 600 SW 11th Ave. Amarillo, Texas 79101.
