Leonard James "L.J." Brown, 80, of Big Spring died Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park with Tripp Gibbs officiating.

He was born May 4, 1930, in Big Spring to Jessie and Charles Brown.

He married Geneva "Sugar" Horn in 1949. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2010.

He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring.

He worked 32 years for Coffman Roofing and was a Baptist.

He is survived by one son: Ricky Brown and his wife Angela of Big Spring; three grandchildren: Stephanie Fryar, Corbin Brown and his wife Kendel, and BraShara Brown, all of Big Spring; one great granddaughter: Harlee Brown of Big Spring; four sisters: Ella Faye Edens of Lubbock; Joyce Howell and Jerrie Murphy, both of Big Spring, and Rosezina Cass and her husband Jim of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles Edward Brown, Thomas Melton Brown, Owen Brown, and Bobby Brown; and two sisters: Eva Ruth Gillihan and Dorothy Martin.

Pallbearers will be Claudie Horn, Larry Horn, Corbin Brown, Jim Cass, Wade Bledsoe, and Speedy Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chester Coffman, Gene Berry, and Paul Horn.
