Hattie Mae McCune Young was the daughter of William McCune and Nannie Boyles McCune, a pioneering family in Swisher County, Texas. She married Erwin Elgan Young on November 12, 1910 and they lived in Kress, Texas until 1948, when her husband retired from his work as a blacksmith due to ill health. Then they moved to Marble Falls to be near one of their daughters.
She was predeceased by her husband and by her son, Roy McCune "Mack" Young, who died as a POW in Japan on August 15, 1945.
Mae was survived by five daughters, Odeta, Delia, Erma, Vineta and Glenna; and four sons, Lee, Floyd, Eddie and Teddy
She was a member of Kress Church of Christ.
